To fully understand your needs we take time for a thorough history, assessment of tissues (joints, muscles, connective tissue, associated viscera) and movement, clinical orthopaedic and neurological tests.

Myotherapy treatment modalities include trigger point therapy and a wide range of soft tissue massage and manipulation including: muscle energy technique, dry needling, and joint mobilisation. We can also provide achievable targeted exercise prescription within a realistic plan for injury rehabilitation.

The aim of remedial massage is to encourage physical and mental relaxation, improve circulation and muscle tone, prevent soft tissue problems, assist the functioning of the digestive system and encourage the elimination of toxins from the body. Massage basically involves manipulating the skin, muscles and joints. Massage is beneficial in the treatment of depression and chronic fatigue syndrome, producing a calmer mind and increased capacity for clearer thinking, which in turn gives a greater sense of being unified and in harmony with one self and surrounding. 

Massage is one of the oldest forms of relaxation and healing therapies. In its various forms it can help relieve headaches, muscle pain, tension and stress. It is an effective means of helping you to relax and function more effectively.

Geriatric massage therapy uses gently, light massage techniques and can include passive stretching and a light oil to permit your muscles to be worked without causing excessive friction to the skin. An exercise prescription generally includes the following recommendations:

Type of exercise or activity (eg. walking, swimming, cycling) and specific workloads

Cupping therapy

Cupping has been practiced for thousands of years for the treatment of disease and pain. It is a form of acupuncture that focuses on the movement of blood, energy - called Qi - and body fluids, such as lymph - which circulates around the body's tissues. Oriental medicine states pain is due to stagnation of these systems. This stagnation could be a result of injury or stress. Cupping is believed to stimulate flow of blood, lymph and Qi to the affected area. It's uses include relieving pain in the muscles, especially back pain from stiffness or injury, and clearing congestion in the chest, which can occur with colds and flu.

Ear Candling

The ancient clearing method has been used by Egyptians, the Chinese, Greeks and the Hopi Indians of America. The process involves using a specially made hollow candle which is held gently on the edge of the ear to create a vacuum in the ear, drawing out old wax, residues of past infections and fungus. Candling is said to stimulate the immune system and peripheral blood circulation. Ear candles may also be used to cleanse and harmonize a person's energy fields of auras, prior to medication.
